Convergence of individual and collective aspects. This is defined as the condition of well-being for people in their biological, psychological, social and politic dimensions which can be achieved by means of developing human capabilities provided by a fair society. Quality of life brings together individual motivations and interests and collective motivations and interests. Achieving balance, respect and recognition between the two is a social challenge. This also involves raising awareness in terms of recognising diversity and regarding the value of individualisation.
Synergy of the social aspect. The social aspect is essential because, to achieve it, it is necessary to maintain feedback with the collective and the environment which should be positive in terms of quality. A person’s living conditions are linked to the personal satisfaction they feel and this in turn leads to satisfaction with their life and therefore with their social and personal environment. This process includes objective and social elements with subjective elements, which imply rational and also emotional elaboration, measured by a scale of values, aspirations and personal expectations which are intimately related to the models of men and women sustained by society’s cultural values.
Future perspective. A sustainable society should provide people with the chance to develop skills and abilities which motivate them to look for healthy satisfying solutions without losing the collective, demographic perspective and the environmental impact to be suffered by future generations. The human being’s perspective is eminently holistic, interrelating the subjective aspect with the social aspect and in turn with the environment where they live.
Relation with innovation. Quality of life is intrinsically linked to autonomy, motivations and interests and individual self-perception both emotionally and intellectually, which is translated into the potential to provide incentives for a collective of creative and empowered individuals exercising active and sustainable citizenship.
