Globalisation : Introduction

From complexity. A reflection on where Basque society stands within globalisation due to the fact that this is currently an issue that no society can extricate itself from. However, the strength or weakness of society will make the difference between cultural sustainability and the dissolution of Euskal Herria as an entity, where it is essential for society to be flexible to assure genuine and sustainable progress, which encourages social cohesion and recreates dynamic identity.

From criticism. Globalisation seen from the perspective of the subject who is affected by this economic-cultural process, individually and collectively; a process which causes upset both within society and in its interactions with other societies. It is possible to critically evaluate the dynamics of the economic, technological, institutional, political and cultural transformation of Basque society in the light of Human Rights.

From responsibility. Examining the position of Euskal Herria within developed societies which turn it into a society which is taking part and also leading globalisation. It forms part of the worldwide economic hegemony and it is in turn influenced and globalised. Its immersion in two dynamics which simultaneously affect it gives rise to two areas for reflection: one concerning responsibility as an agent of globalisation and the other from a position of criticism as a globalised society.
