PRESENTATION RULES FOR PROPOSALS FOR ARTISTIC EXHIBITIONS AND INSTALLATIONS

  1. The subject of the exhibitions and installations must be linked to the lines of work established for the 17th Congress. (These are: Innovation, Quality of Life, Revaluation of the Public Sphere, Gender System, Social Tension, Globalisation, Justice, Solidary Society and Social Memory). The proposals for artistic exhibitions and installations can be submitted by an individual person or by a group. An exhibition space will be assigned to the projects accepted. In the case of an installation, the location that the author(s) has/have proposed for setting it up will be taken into consideration.

  2. The proposals selected may undergo a subsequent reappraisal or modification before they are finally accepted, but not without the authorization and express permission of the authors. This would be in the light of the limitations of the space itself with respect to access to it, weight, dimensions, power (electrical power) if required (for installations, especially), effect on safety in the event of the premises having to be evacuated, as well as coexistence with the Congress (see photographs of spaces that could be used). There is no guarantee that walls may be used as a medium for exhibiting.

  3. If a specific proposal has been selected by the judges but cannot be set up in situ, the Scientific Committee reserves the right to propose to the author(s) the option of exhibiting the project by means of panels, which may include photographs or whatever graphic material is deemed appropriate.

  4. The organisation responsible for the Congress will not be able to meet the costs arising out of the transport of the materials to be exhibited, nor will it accept responsibility for any damage or mishaps that could occur during transit. Nevertheless, the dispatch and collection of the works, whose ownership will correspond to the authors throughout, should be carried out using packing that is sufficiently rigid and protective.

  5. While the exhibition is on, all the materials installed will be covered by the insurance applicable in each case.

  6. The materials to be used in the installations and exhibitions must not damage the spaces (nor have any effect on shared elements) nor hamper the conditions of use established by the conference centre itself.

  7. Bearing in mind that the spaces available are going to have a large number of people continually passing through, the materials to be used should not be fragile nor easily breakable unless they have suitable protection or covering.

  8. If photographs are to be presented, they will have to be submitted on a rigid support or properly framed.

  9. By the deadline scheduled for the presentation of proposals for exhibitions and installations a “Word” document will also be handed in stating the following: 1. title of the exhibition or installation in lower case; 2. the translation of the title into English; 3. thematic sphere of the Congress for which the work is being entered (the lines of work or aspects cited in the first point); 4. two surnames and name of the author(s) (including the initial only of the second given name); 5. where appropriate, professional affiliation should be stated, including address and e-mail address (university, research organisations, etc.: this being the address that will appear in the publication); 6. personal contact details, home address, telephone, fax, e-mail if they do not coincide with those included in professional affiliation, if applicable; 7. it is necessary to include, in addition, a maximum of 6 photographs (the measurements being 15 X 10 cm or larger) dealing with the plastic work due to be exhibited or, if not, examples of pervious works.

  10. By the deadline scheduled for the presentation of proposals for exhibitions and installations an indicative abstract of the artistic project in “Word” format not exceeding 60 words will also be submitted. At the same time, the key words or specific terms referring to the ideas developed in the project (no more than eight) will be included in order of importance. In the case of proposals for installations, a brief technical report is required explaining the setting up and location of the components.

  11. The two “Word” format files can be produced either on PC or Macintosh. The font used for them will be Arial, size 10, simple line spacing (one space), one return between paragraphs and the right, left, upper and lower margins 2.5 cm. These files must be sent the the following e-mail adress: kongresua2@eusko-ikaskuntza.org.

  12. All the proposals presented will be submitted to the Scientific Committee for its consideration, and reviewed by at least two judges. The author(s) of the proposals selected undertake to carry out the project and exhibit it on the appointed days.
