The third phase of the SMP(SD) project has started with the objective of developing and implementing the conclusions and lines of work agreed in the XVI Basque Studies Congress – “GARAPEN IRAUNKORRA-IT-Etorkizuna”.
This phase of the project continues with the participative social reflection and starts as from the classification and hierarchisation of the Euskal Herria System factors. Such factors will be classified into various areas of work configured in accordance with the freely chosen options of the participants with respect to the factors which, in their opinion, deserve more attention, always by filtering reflections from the triple economic, social and environmental dimension. The analysis of each area is to be in depth, comparative (Benchmarking) and with sequential integrations of transversal debates between them.
Before the summer, the following working phases were covered:
Starting from the Structural Analysis of the factors that configure the Euskal Herria-Sustainable Development system and its hierarchisation within what we have named the “Strategy Obelisk”, we have started by carrying out the analysis titled the Actors’ Game, in which, after a previous selection of the 25 Actors relevant in the en el Euskal Herria-Sustainable Development system, an analysis by groups has been carried out of how they would react to eventual future actions related to Sustainable Development.
As from September, we shall begin to define recommendable Objectives and Actions as perceived from Eusko Ikaskuntza-Basque Studies Society.
The basis of this work for reflection groups starts from the contrast between Question 3: “what can we do?” with the result of the Actors’ Game, which has given us the key for the definition of Question 4: “¿how are we going to do it? (Whom are we going to do it with?).
Once Question 4 has been answered, the definite question will be worked on: Question 5 “¿what are we going to do?”. The concretion of this question will define the objectives and strategic actions to be carried out by the various actors and will be the basis for action for Eusko Ikaskuntza- Basque Studies Society within the SMP(SD).
Depending on the actions to be carried out, “Discussion Forums” will be set up, the objectives of which are to gather the agents concerned in the implementation of actions defined as of strategic interest for the adaptation of the Basque Country to the new paradigm of Sustainable Development.
This is the case of the BIOMIMESIS Project, which is within the SMP (SD) Discussion Forum and which was presented in Miramar Palace on 13th June with considerable success and acceptance by those who attended, who enacted collaboration agreements for the next few months.
Now a second Discussion Forum is being set up within the GIROTU which pretends to agglutinate teachers and students of the University of the Basque Country with those from various Clusters, pursuing collaboration between University and corporations and civil society in the search for innovation for sustainability.
