Summary
The 8th Basque Studies Congress took place from 11th July to 12th September 1954 and its meetings were held mainly in Bayonne and occasionally in Ustaritz. The main topic was as follows: "Basque language and culture: how to maintain and develop them?". The results of this Congress were more modest than that held in 1948.This Congress was above all characterised by the absence of material means, both in terms of people and finance.
