In its idea body of principles, EI-BSS sets itself three important objectives: research, training and the dissemination of culture and science. Besides, EI-BSS impulses transversal research projects, around which the Multidisciplinary Special Projects are grouped.
RESEARCH
Promotion of research is one of the tasks that, since its foundation, is part of Eusko Ikaskuntza’s mandate. Among other initiatives, each year it awards Scholarships and provides financial aid for research projects which are accessible to members.
TRAINING
Eusko Ikaskuntza promotes and organises Courses and Conferencesin all the disciplines of knowledge, directed both to members and to anybody interested. Also, every four years, it holds Basque Studies Congresses, high-level forums that contribute to the progress of knowledge in the most diverse disciplines and in which the main social problems are debated.
DISSEMINATION
The research and debates carried out within EI-BSS are then compiled in paper and digital (CD-Roms, radio talk shows, etc) formats, which gradually increase the Society’s editorial fund. EI-BSS also awards honorary prizes in recognition of those people who contribute the most to science. Lastly, it promotes public dissemination of cultural contents through the media.
SPECIAL MULTIDISCIPLNARY PROJECTS (SMP)
EI-BSS impulses various transversal research projects, around which the Special Multidisciplinary Projects.In 2004 the following such projects started: Euskosare, Sustainable Development and Altube Etxea.
